Sabudana vada is again one yummy dish, that I have had only once or twice. I never knew how to prepare it ๐ Have got inspired by the ED group in Facebook where lot of friends have been posting this vada. Sometime backย Naina had also posted pan fried sabudana vada. From then I wanted to try for a long time. Today I was fasting and got the idea to soak sabudana and yes I prepared it and enjoyed it totally ๐ There was a post with baked version in theย link here by Rima and I followed the same.
Here is the recipe
Ingredients:
Sabudana/Tapioca Pearls/javvarisi : 1 cup
Water : 1 cup
Ginger : a small piece
Green Chili : 2 thinly chopped
Potato : 1 medium boiled and mashed
Carrot : 1 small shredded
Salt : as needed
Peanuts crushed : 1/4 cup
Cumin Seeds : 1 teaspoon
Lemon Juice : 1/2 of a large lemon juice
Cilantro : 10 strands finely chopped
Method:
- Soak Sabudana in water for 3 hrs.
- After 3hrs add it with all other ingredients.
- Preheat oven to 400F
- Grease a baking sheet with oil.
- Oil palms slightly and make patties out of the above.
- Place it in baking sheet and bake for 50ย to 55 mins.
- Serve with tomato ketchup ๐
You can deep fry it in oil, or just do a pan fry as well. Baked version reduces oil consumption!! Any of these version turns out very tasty ๐

They look delicious, Malar.
There was someone who made it in a Paniyaram pan. I think on the Indian Food Freak or Chef at Large groups on FB.
